These are INTENTIONAL messages that groups have recorded and placed in their songs. This differs from backwards masking in which
bands supposedly sing a song in a special way so that when played backwards a hidden message appears.

"Heavy Metal Poisoning," Styx The beginning of the tune has a blatant backwards message: "Annuit Coeptis Novus Ordo Seclorum"...a Latin phrase translated as, "God has favored our undertakings, a new order of the ages."
During the guitar solo, another backwards message can be heard. According to the fan site styxnet.com, the voice either says "Satan holds the secrets" or "Sparky holds the secrets". These messages were included as joke by Styx, as they were accused of creating satanic backwards messages in other songs of theirs, such as "Snowblind."

Appears on We're Only In It For the Money. Following the freaky echoing spoken words at the front, there is a snippet of backwards music and singing. This is actually an extra verse for the song "Mother People" from the same album, containing a few dirty words that Frank Zappa was forced to remove. Subsequent releases of the album on CD have included the re-edited version of the song (in addition to the "Hot Poop" track).
