Music Trivia -> Backwards Messages -> R

These are INTENTIONAL messages that groups have recorded and placed in their songs. This differs from backwards masking in which bands supposedly sing a song in a special way so that when played backwards a hidden message appears.

Entries Beginning with R

"Rain," The Beatles
At the end, it says backwards: "When the rain comes, they run & hide their heads"
Tom "The Deke" Ammon
"The Revenge of Anus Presley," Butthole Surfers
In the song "The Revenge of Anus Presley" there is a backwards message which says "There is a time to live, and a time to die, but I smoke Elvis Presleys toenails when I want to get high". It is on the album "Brown Reason to Live".
Wade Brock

jdizzy
"Revolution #9," The Beatles
There is another, lesser-known message that occurs at the end of the song. When Yoko Ono says "If we become naked", play it backwards and it's "Satan, look at me please."
A Stranger
"Revolution #9," The Beatles
The whole song played itself backwards. Il-luh-meh-nu-meh...uh [part of doing the voice-created reversitivity.]
Mickey D.
"Revolution #9," The Beatles
The song is slightly infamous for having all kinds of crazy, somewhat-discernible stuff in it when played backwards, most famously a car crash sound followed by a voice yelling "Get me out! Get me out!" and the "Number nine, number nine" repeated through the song becoming "Turn me on, dead man. Turn me on, dead man."
Aninnymouse
"Revolution 9," The Beatles
Not a song, but a sound collage, but anyway, in forwards it's "Number 9". In reverse, it sounds like "Turn me on, dead man."
Noah William Johnsen
"Rock Of Ages," Def Leppard
In the guitar solo of the song, one can faintly hear incoherent mumbling. After some investigation, I learned that they were the words "Brezhnev's got Herpes" and "F*** the Russians!". Makes sense considering the time period.
carly_carlz
"Rocket," Def Leppard
The reversible lyrics, "we're fighting for the gods of war"; the "Gods of War" chorus part was used reversibly throughout the instrumental break of the song, and the very beginning.
Mickey D.
"Rocky Mountain High," John Denver
If you play part of the lyric "He left yesterday behind him, you might say he-" it will sound something like "Yes, someday he'll be the Satan!" or "Yes, someday now be the Satany!"
Hunter Sullivan
