EDIT: This was not banned per se, but strangely, high is censored in TV airings.
ILoveMusic
Banned for some reason with the few drug references but also, not banned on radio but the video was banned because it shows Tove Lo sitting kissing random people and using drugs.

The line "I'm brave but I'm chicken shit" had the S-word blanked out on the radio most of the time, as well as on SNL. What difference does it really make anyway? Her music is just hateful whiny piss-a-bitch temper tantrum S*** anyway. Her first album truly is a "jagged little pill" - very hard to swallow!
Grow Up, Alanis!
Banned by the BBC for sexual content.

ILoveMusic
Banned from Radio One airplay because of its advertisement of the drug "Hashish". People were scared that children would start using the drug that wasn't banned from private stores at the time.

The cover of this 1979 album was banned in the southern U.S. states (the so-called "Bible belt"). The album showed a young girl (in her teens or 20s maybe) wearing a short dress in a men's restroom (there are urinals on the wall). Also, even though the title track is about lovers' spats the word "head" suggests another meaning with the cover picture. On top of that "head" is U.S. Navy jargon for "restroom".
Dirty White Boy
During the first couple of weeks of 1979, the New Wave band, Blondie is forced to replace some of the words to this #1 hit to gain air-play on U.S. Top 40 radio. The lyrics "Once I had a love and it was a gas / Soon found out, I had a heart of glass" were inserted over the top of the original lyrics "Once I had a love and it was a gas / Soon turned out to be a pain in the ass."

"Heavy Petting Zoo," NOFX In 1996, the vinyl version of this album was banned in Germany due to the cover depicting an explicit sexual act between a human and a sheep.
Horatio
In November 1972, this first single release by Paul McCartney's new band, Wings, is banned by the BBC because of it's "unsuitable lyrics". The song still manages to become a hit, reaching #5 in the U.K, and #10 in the U.S. early in the year 1973.

How could this be not mentioned yet? This song was heavily censored in English-speaking countries and in Brazil for saying the word "shit" 38 times. I personally have heard both versions at parties.

Well, not a song--an album. Wal-Mart and K-Mart actually refused to stock it because of the disturbing cover art, which featured the artist decomposing on a cross.
Jonathan S.
The video for this song was so popular that MTV briefly had to ban it, before instating a rule that no one music video could be requested more than 5 times in any day.
GlamRockNinjaLord
Banned by Richard himself after realizing that the song was about prostitution.

The original cover for this album showed a nude model on a hook. It was deemed too sexual for American consumers and the American release altered the cover, so that you only saw the model from the shoulder up.
GlamRockNinjaLord
Release was restricted due to over 48 uses of the F word.

1987 was a big year for Billy Idol. In November or December Billy's hit from 1982 was rereleased with a new video. The song scored on the charts again but MTV refused to air the new 1987 video because right near the end Billy's girlfriend is shown placed on a cheap plastic cross. The video is real good up to that point - the crucifixion scenario is pretty dumb, tasteless and unnecessary.
City Dude
The word "bitch" is often changed to "girl" or blanked out.

In 1965, this Jimi Hendrix's single is given little airplay on radio because the song deals with the plight of blacks in America.
