Parody Song Title:

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

4/19/05, a new pope chosen; I'm sure many people have their thoughts on the matter, and these are mine
Puffs of magic Pope smoke
Came from the See
And now to Roman Catholics
There is not a vacancy

Smoke and bells and whistles
Pilgrims got the news
We have a brand new Pope Today
You can lose them popeless blues

Puffs of magic pope smoke
Came from the See
And now to Roman Catholics
There is not a vacancy

Around the world he'll travel
Sometimes in pope mobile
And sometimes in a big jet plane
he will have much pope appeal

Pilgrims and the faithful
Will bow and speak his name
Pope Benedict XVI
And tradition is his claim, oh

Puffs of magic pope smoke
Came from the See
And now to Roman Catholics
There is not a vacancy

The spirit lives forever
The church will make its noise
Religion always likes to have
Its share of sacred toys

God, he is a spirit
He has eternal youth
And those that worship spirit
They must worship it in truth

This world has its sorrow
Tear drops fall like rain
And no amount of fantasy
Will take away the pain

Without religious trappings
people can't be brave
So blows the smoke from Vatican--
So people can be saved? Oh

Puffs of magic pope smoke
Came from the See
And now to Roman Catholics
There is not a vacancy

Puffs of magic pope smoke
Came from the See
And now to Roman Catholics
There is not a vacancy

This is great! Hilarious title, and "You can lose them popeless blues" made me LOL. Also, "Came from the See" is very clever. Outstanding, Royce.

You have it right - religious trappings are superseded by the spirit. But may the spirit be with the new pope. Well done, Royce.

Oh so many religious songs from your keyboard praising Jesus and His love, and now this, a theme worthy of the Aryan Nation! The Man said love one another. RC "trappings" are symbols and images of the Spirit, Protestant "trappings" are "crapping" on everyone else. Did Christ say "Love one another as I have loved you." only to the Protestants? When we substitute "like" for "love" we are taking dangerous liberties, for although there is no question that Jesus loves us, and commanded us to love each other, nothing in the Bible says He has to like US or we each other. Likes are accidental and transitory but love is eternal. Catholics are Christians, too, but the Protestant clergy choses to divide the flock by teaching that Catholicism and Christianity are two very different things. There is only one God, Royce, and we all worship Him. Mankind is one. All the world religions teach exactly the same personal lessons and differ only in their social/administrative aspects. We are one soul. Be kind. I think maybe you just watched too much TV last week.

Pomfret--I noticed your comment today. I'm not a Protestant, I'm not a Catholic--you're right when you point out that I've written some about Jesus--and he's not protestant or catholic, either. Hey, what's wrong with TV?

Mitch O-thanks for your comment; I hope you continue to enjoy the parodies; it's like going through a gauntlet, sometimes, writing them--never know what's going to be thrown at ya, but it's rewarding to know that someone has read and thought about the lines, sometimes.

Program on the emergence of civilization. "14 species of large animals capable of domesitcation in the history of mankind. 13 from Europe, Asia and northern Africa. None from the sub-Saharan African continent. " Favor. And disfavor. They point out Africans’ failed attempts to domesticate the elephant and zebra, the latter being an animal they illustrate that had utmost importance for it's applicability in transformation from a hunting/gathering to agrarian-based civilization. The roots of racism are not of this earth. Austrailia, aboriginals:::No domesticable animals. The North American continent had none. Now 99% of that population is gone. AIDS in Africa.
