The Lyrics

Well, they’ve told us once, twice, and more than thrice,
the world is gonna end in fire, not ice.
To debunk every one is easy,
especially those from “preachers” sleazy.

Well, there will be a next time,
there will be a next time,
there’ll be a next time,
this we know. . .will be faux, so faux.

Well, I’m sorry for the fools who pay
the phony prophets who bray.
They wake up the post-event morrow—
Bank account is drained, such sorrow.

But there will be a next time,
there’s always a next time
for the end of time,
this we know. . .will be faux, so faux.

Well, they’ve told us once, twice, and more than thrice.
But who never listens to sage advice:
the poor boobs who fork over dimes.
The [human] race will be here a long time.

But there will be a next time,
there will be a next slime
preaching end of time,
this we know. . .will be faux, so faux.

Next “end time,” babe, for it do not go,
no, no no, no; so faux, faux, faux. . . .

Simple and effective concept match, well told as usual. I believe this was one of the very first successful Jagger-Richard songs.
