Parody Song Title:

"Cara Mia"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

He is sweet on her, and "my dear," transcends "friend."
His song has just one verse. . .seems it will never end.
He's lovesick, and how, with ardor he burns;
I hear him, and I go for the volume control--
Don't want to hear him bare soul,
Because so operatically he sings,
So overwrought, it vibrates my earrings. Oowwww!

"Cara Mia," there he goes again,
High, high. . .wish he would desist soon.
"Cara Mia," yet it blows again.
Guy, guy! This ain't an A-list tune.

Screams he is broken-hearted
Each time that they are parted.
Why, why does this fellow Jay bellow?
"Cara Mia," this song really blows.
Why why didn't he play Othello?

I get angry and mad each time this tune ensues
On the radio; I have to exhume the booze.
For rum I go and make a healthy pour--
Helps deaden -otic nerves to idiotic song
That goes on and on so long.
Like an implacid Domingo he sings,
Monomaniac; he's got no mood swings. Nooooooo!

"Cara Mia," there he goes again,
High, high. . .wish he would desist soon.
"Cara Mia," yet it blows again.
Guy, guy! This ain't an A-list tune.

Screams he is broken-hearted
Each time that they are parted.
Why, why does this fellow Jay bellow?
Why why didn't he play Othello?
"Cara Mia," 'bout all he can say,
Whines, whines lyrics that ain't clever,
"Cara mia. . ." (broken-record Jay)
". . .mine" line: it goes on forever.

"Cara Mia," there he goes again,
High, high. . .wish he would desist tune.
"Cara Mia," yet it blows again.
Guy, guy, go get that chick kissed soon!
We know you're broken-hearted;
Lock lips and get 'em parted-
Ply, ply your tongue deep within her throat.
"Cara Mia"--just forget the notes,
Guy, guy, thus tongue-tied you won't emote!

Fortunately for you, Jay Black of Jay & the Americans is one of these New York doo-wop singers with a big voice and big sales, but is very short. Jay, Dion, Frankie Valli, Ben E. King, Johnny Maestro, Paul Simon doesn't count as doo-wop but he's about the same age and he's pretty short, too.

Based on what I've seen, you might like Baccara's "Cara Mia" better. It's a different song rather than a cover: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrAeKSP3S68
