I haven't been posting much lately, but I have been writing. I thought I'd put this one up because it seems rather timely, what with gasoline going for around 3.40 per gallon here in California and somewhere in the vicinity of 3.00 per gallon in the rest of the nation.
Used lots of gas
The price went high
They’ve got us by the balls
and now we cry
Now a gallon
It sure does cost a ton
A “Treasure Chest” is
what you’ll need soon
Yes, indeed, us they’ll bleed
They’ll bleed you
And they’ll laugh when you complain
You know that is true
Got no hearts; they’ll cause you pain

Your gas guzzler needs a drink
They know you’ll plead soon
“I need fuel”

“So you need gas today?”

won’t you sell me?”

Hey, Paul! Great to have you back stranger. This was a very well written parody, but you get absolutely no sympathy from me: I did some quick calculations...and here in London I pay the equivalent of $6.70 a gallon for my fuel. Still, worthy of 555
Yep, no sympathy from the Southern Hemisphere either, it's consistently higher here as well by comparison. Nonetheless, the parody was also high, in quality that is. Nice to see you Paul :)
Paul, I'm in Oregon as I write this, waiting to see if my loan is approved...to fill my tank. $3.45 a gallon here also, so I can really relate. 5x3
funny and tragic at the same time....i'm old enough to remember gas being less than 25 cents a gallon...that's one quick squirt now
Kristof & Per...Yes, I know it's more costly beyond our pond. I don't know if you travel the same types of distances to work and such that we typically do here in Southern Calilfornia, but that $6.70 is still pretty eye-opening. My round-trip commute is just under 50 miles a day, a little under 2 gallons of gas to get to work and back. There really is no way other for me to get to work on time short of taking several different modes of Mass Transit and trying to connect properly at each transfer point, which I am honestly just not up to at this point in my life. Dee, I though CA was higher than all other Continental U.S. locations, but it appears OR is about the same. alvin, I remember the exact same thing...during the 60's and lasting pretty much up into the early 70's. I remember when there was an Oil Embargo during Nixon's term and the price suddenly went to 60+ cents pg! It doesn't sound like much next to today's numbers, but it was also difficult to even buy it some days...CA went to an "Odd/Even" license plate scheme...the last digit on the plate determines w hether it was "Your Day" or not. That really should have been our wake-up call, but it wasn't. thanks all!
Maybe we should all get a clue from the Amish and go back to using horses and buggies. The only fuel they need is hay and oats. That never runs out.
someone needs to develop some solutions to the "road-apple" problem first.
No fuelin' around here, a real gasser
Our dependence on foreign oil supplies coupled with our general unwilliness as a nation to develop/accept alternative fuel sources is much more crippling a problem than 3$ a gallon at the pump. Not lol funny, but well written. DKTOS, but since I hate America (the band) and trust you on the pacing... 545.
