Very Adagio-like. I guess it's difficult to parody Paul Simon without it sounding like another Paul Simon.

"The Boxer" has always been one of my all-time favourites. It is beautiful song and it has very touching lyrics.

Susanna, thanks in particular for your comment. I agree that The Boxer is a great song, like many done by Simon & Garfunkel; packed with meaning, so cleverly written, and I wish there were more writers like them today.

No, no, no. You have it all wrong, Royce. If you don't succeed, it is because you are a victim of a male dominated society or some other perpetrator of exploitation, so you should just sit back, find a good attorney, and sue.

Just kidding. Very well done. I, too, like the choice of the original song and the message, and I also like the use of the word "grinder."

Thanks for some really nice comments. JJ, your comment is why I wrote this---I was listening to a guy on the radio who was talking about his ups and downs in his career, and how he could have given up, but didn't, even though some people told him he should; and yes, like you say, if you quit, you can't blame anyone but yourself. That's what I'm really trying to say. And it's more and more relevant, instead of less and less.

John, I know that Feminazi kvetching all too well. I realized already when I was young that the traditional woman's societal role was not for me; I can well relate to Janis Ian's song "At Seventeen". So the only way for me was to do it by myself.

Royce's song was very touching, and her story could have been mine. I have made my career and life myself, and the only things I ask for society is just a) opportunity to make it by myself b) fair laws to protect the individual and c) some social security should things screw up and another possibility to try again should I fail. My grandmother made it by herself and my mother did it as well. Why should I be any less than they?
