The Lyrics

(Duh! Duh!)

Stuck in the city, I was inspired
Schemed me of some way, for to get wired
New-new new new, new new new, new new new, new new new, new new
My plan to soar free: exquisite fly'n
Ends splotched concreting - indisposeder to dy'n
Flew-flew flew flew, flew flew flew, flew flew flew, flew flew flew, flew flew

Too much of the ground
Hit with a grunt - I'm plastered goo
Hell's what I found - self tossed with feet bound
When I bungeed from the roof!
Waddled to edge - misaimed for the hedge
Went for the jump, how I boo-booed...
Oncoming plants - I juiced in my pants
'Cus I'd bungeed from the roof

Squashed to a morass - too gross a sight
All screwed-up planning caused this loonlike flight
Eew-eew eew eew, eew eew eew, eew eew eew, eew eew eew, eew eew!
Poor calculating on the length of the line
Now see my heart: it's thrust into my behind
Goo-goo goo goo, goo goo goo, goo goo goo, goo goo goo, goo goo!

A klutz all around
I took a punt - I missed the pool...
Dents so profound, I got no rebound
When I bungeed from the roof
Splat! on a dime - no rip-cord or time
My bowels and my spleen are mashed fondue
Wounded I writhe - a scrum my insides
When I bungeed from the roof

(Bungeed from the roof x 4)

Hurling to ground - I'm shrieking so loud
I must be one big oafer dude
I fell right on down - embossed in the ground
When I bungeed from the roof
Nuts mis-aligned, but not by design
My swan-dive stunt it went askew
South pole aligned, bruis-ed big time
When I bungeed from the roof

Cursing expounds - for traction I'm bound
Skull took the brunt - call Pastor Lew!
Fell and hit ground - soon hospital gowned
When I bungeed from the roof

Lengthened my line and severed my spine
And now I dine on liquid food
Ouchies big time - a stunning mis-glide
When I bungeed from the roof...

Ahhh, a refreshingly twisted change from all the boing-boing parodies that have been jiggling around here lately... ;-D

with all that quadraplegia, you must have dictated this with your one working eyelid - that alone earns you 5s - you 2 manage to harness some great ideas!

Fantastic!!! "Now see my heart: it's thrust into my behind - My bowels and my spleen are mashed fondue - Nuts mis-aligned, but not by design - South pole aligned, bruis-ed big time" are all gut-busting lines...along with just about all the others in the piece. Great work - 5's...

Phil Alexander - November 16, 2004 - Report this comment
I've been trying to remember how the original goes (other than the chorus bit)... but this is another remarkably original M&P classic, IMO
Adagio - November 16, 2004 - Report this comment
(Good comments taken). It was a really funny one full of imagery. 5's

"Dents so profound, I got no rebound" was my favorite line, but it was all good.
Jonathan C. - November 16, 2004 - Report this comment
Had to dock you for the pacing a little (the first line in the chorus). But funny and original.

Like Philbo I can really only remember the chorus to this one. I went with the majority on the pacing vote, therefore, and scored it fives all round.

There is a video available in one of the "Faces of Death" series about this. Some teens found the highest building on the campus, measured one floor, multiplied by the number of stories, and came up with the correct calculation for a bungee jump from the roof. Then they drank beer, one taped, one jumped. They neglected to account for superstition. Some buildings do not have a thirteenth floor.

(SOTM) Yikes, death defying is only fun if it works I guess.

(SOTM) If you ever record this, make sure to sample bits of the chorus from Tom Petty's "Free falling" and put them in the background. :-)
Spaff.com - December 19, 2004 - Report this comment
Excellent, intricate work. This is a case study in matching an alarming number of the original's sounds and yet ending up with a funny, cohesive whole. In addition to the fave lines cited by others, I'm charmed by "Too much of the ground."

I totally enjoyed this!

(SOTM) Well, I've just got through scanning the SOTM list for any possible signs of Worthiness, and it looks like they saved the best for last. This was comic genius, girls - in my opinion, there is nothing funnier than the concept of "Oncoming plants - I juiced in my pants". Incredibly well done!

Excellent, fell for it immediately (I'm sure no one said that before...yeah right!)
