The Lyrics

This winter will set many snowfall records in the Northern Hemisphere. In cities like New York, prompt removal is a task that can become a political snowball. While we wait for government to do the big job, we must do what we can for ourselves. CHFUDNKTOS.
I believe for every sloppy snow that falls,
A blower blows;
I believe that ev'ry car that's parked on right, [1]
A tow-truck tows;
I believe for everyone who waits all day,
Someone will come to plow the way.
I believe, while I heave. [2]

I believe within this storm, thru windshield's glare,
I'll still see blur;
I believe that someone, cursing Fate unfair,
Steers while wheels whir;
Ev'ry time I hear a snowbound driver cry,
Or come to grief, or freeze and die,
Then I know why
I must leave. [3]

[musical interlude]

Ev'ry time I hear a snowbound driver cry,
Or come to grief, or freeze and die,
Then I know why
I'll soon leave.
[1] ... or left side of the street, depending on the day.
[2] Clear my own walks, driveway and vehicle.
[3] Move to a warmer climate.

In Ohio, we haven't faced high inch snowfall like the east coast has, but it's a "Brush the car and scrape" every day thing. Interesting parody. Sarcasm and weather make a good theme team.

Thanks, AFW. I moved from a north-of-Boston suburb to southeastern Virginia in 2003, but I still sympathize with relatives and friends north of here. An alternative line 2 is "The power blows."

Here in Minnesota, you'd have a lot of enthusiastic agreement to this -- I'm going to distribute it widely. Later today we're leaving for one of the colder spots in the state, Duluth, where it is officially 19 degrees at the moment -- but then, we're having a heat wave (pace, Cole Porter). On our lawn, where the discharge from the snowblower hasn't reached, I estimate about fifteen inches of the white stuff. Global warming hasn't hit us yet!

Northernmost tip of Kentucky here! There's more snow than normal but nothing like the East Coast. We have similar winters to BJM in Virginia...snow, melt, thaw, freeze, snow, melt, thaw, freeze, etc...not like Dana in Minnesota where the snow that falls in October is still on the ground in April (just kidding). BJM - I Believe...I'll give you three 5s for this snow job! ;D

I spent close to 10 years in Wisconsin and northern Ohio, and remember all that snow! The worst part was shoveling for an hour or two to get your car out of the drifts, then having the snow plow come along and dump another huge pile behind it! :) 555

Thanks, all. I owe this to NYC's mayor, who said "every inch of snow that falls costs $1 million." My last line should be "I did leave."
