"Robbie Robertson" | "After the breakup of The Band, Robertson worked as a film composer for Martin Scorsese before releasing his debut solo album in 1987. He had many popular solo hits in Canada, but oddly enough his big international hit 'Somewhere Down the Crazy River' was not a Top 40 hit in Canada" | - whistledog |

"Up On Cripple Creek"
The Nonsensical Lyrics: When I get off of this mountain, you know where I want to go?
Straight down the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico To Lake Charles, Louisiana, little Bessie, girl that I once knew She told me just to come on by if there's anything that she could do Why They're Nonsensical: The city of Lake Charles, Louisiana, is not on the Gulf of Mexico. It is about 30 miles inland. It is also not on the Mississippi River.

"Up On Cripple Creek"
The Lyrics: When I get off of this mountain, you know where I want to go?
Straight down the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico To Lake Charles, Louisiana, little Bessie, girl that I once knew She told me just to come on by if there's anything that she could do Up on Cripple Creek, she sends me Why: Cripple Creek, Colorado; Mississippi River; Gulf of Mexico; Lake Charles, Louisiana

| "Up on Cripple Creek"
The Lyrics: When I get off of this mountain, you know where I want to go? Straight down the Mississippi river, to the Gulf of Mexico. To Lake Charles, Louisiana, little Bessie, girl that I once knew.
Why: Lake Charles sits along Interstate 10 and is approximately halfway between Houston and Baton Rouge. It is home to casinos and many industrial plants. Incidentally, other lyrics in the song mention betting on horses; Delta Downs racetrack is in the town of Vinton, just about 25 miles west of Lake Charles along I-10. (The racetrack didn't exist when the song was written.) The actual Cripple Creek is in Colorado; the song completely misplaces it. (Lyrics copied from Wikipedia's entry on Lake Charles.)

The Lyrics: Take a load off, Fanny.
Take a load for free. Take a load off, Fanny. And...you put the load right on me. Why: This guy is basically getting taken advantage of left and right. Sure, this may be a story that actually happened, but this guy gets overburdened by everyone!
