cat (kaht)
1. A small domestic feline commonly kept as a household pet, Latin name Felis domesticus or Felis catus.
2. A teenage female who, in between running, playing Scholastic Bowl, trying her hardest to maintain her straight-A average, writing for the local newspaper, listening to all sorts of music, and gawking like a zombie at her favorite pictures of Ric Ocasek (got a problem with that, you little punk?!) somehow finds the time to write song parodies on AmIRight.
Okay, enough with the smartassness. Well anyways, I first came in here in August 2005 to post a little one-off, poorly paced piece I had written, called "Where Are The Cars?" Normally I would have just left without ever thinking of this place again, but once I started sophomore year later that month I thought of writing some more, so I did, but they weren't very good ideas and were rather clunky, so they weren't very well received. I think my real turning point as a parodist came with "Gee, George Dubya Bushy," which was the first parody of mine that really got good reception and the first I entered in a SOTM contest. Since then I've been more serious (in technique, not humor!) about writing parodies, and I think I've sufficiently established myself on here by now. Admittedly, I'm not that prolific since it takes me a while to write most of my material, and it takes me a while to come up with good ideas sometimes...I've rejected a LOT of potential parodies in my day. But ah well, I've always preferred quality over quantity, and I like to think that I'm worth the wait. =)
So far, my most successful parody has probably been "You've Been Blessed," which won the Y parody competition and got a bronze medal in the February SOTM, but I definitely have aspirations for a gold someday. My parodies range on a variety of topics: my aforementioned obsession with Ric Ocasek, irrational behavior in males, cults, the flop known as Bode Miller, my breasts (or lack thereof), politics, cheating on tests, bathroom humor, Yo Mama, celebrities, hypochrondiacs, as well as several parodies about parodies, including how hard it is to write a parody of "American Pie."
Other than that...I don't know what else to say. I really love music, of pretty much all types. If I was to list all the bands I like, it would make your eyes hurt, but I will tell you that my favorite band is The Cars. Why? Because they're insanely catchy, no two songs of theirs sound alike, their lyrics are really really good, and they also just so happen to have an incredibly foxy lead singer (guess who THAT is?) I've parodied a few of their songs, but I must admit they're not very good. And if you want an idea of what other music I like, you can visit me on my other Internet infatuation, last.fm: http://www.last.fm/user/CarsCat
Well, that's it. You'll probably see me somewhere around here, I have way too much time on my hands. Cat out!
