Taking Over Van Halen's Lead Vocals - Gary Cherrone
Garry Cherrone was listed as Van Halen's new lead singer after Sammy Hagar's less than subtle split from the band. Sammy stated that the reason why he left is because the band wanted to make a "Greatest Hits" album and he didn't want to do that. Gary was fired shortly after joining the group due to abysmal record sales.

Lucky but Accurate American Football Predictor - Gavin Rossdale
Despite being unfamiliar with American Football (as he is British), he picked 8 of 10 games correct in NFL Network's 2008 Celebrity Picks (tied first with Natalie Coughlin, (accurate to week 10). He beat out "football-heads" like Nelly & Billy Bob Thornton, who both didn't even crack 50% correct.

Being a Jays fan - Geddy Lee (Rush)
He did grow up in Toronto and apparently is a season ticket holder.
During a late 1981 gig in Rotterdam, Netherlands Genesis played some older prog material and some new stuff from the ABACAB and DUKE albums and some fans were booing at the new 80s radio-friendlier songs and throwing stuff on the stage. During an intermission the 3 band members came to a mic and mentioned about the boo-ers and they said that those naysayers can meet them after the show and 'we'll kick the fucking shit outta ye!'. Genesis is not known to be a bunch of rude boys but they sure got peeved that night. Watch out!
in the late 60s George released "Electronic Sounds", one of the first all-synthesizer albums ever. George would later put his Moog synthesizer to use on subsequent Beatles albums and in his solo career.
George got a sitar and learned how to make it talk. The Beatles hit "Norweigian Wood" is one of the first uses of a non-Western instrument in a rock'n'roll song. Other artists have been inspired by this (did somebody mention Peter Gabriel?).

They played a single gig in every US state, covering all US states in a 50-day span with no nights off. In mid 1982 the band would become legendary with their signature song 'Bad To The Bone'.
Taking a look at all the three of Cream, I cannot but remark, that Ginger is about to be passed by on the right, by Bruce and Clapton.., face-wise, that is. Listening to what I can find of his most recent drumming work, it becomes obvious, that he has also not aged in any significant other way.

Lead singer getting murdered - The Gits
It is sad that the only notoriety this Seattle band got was their lead singer Mia Zapata's brutal slaying. She was killed on July 7, 1993, and it would be about a decade later before the killer was arrested and sent to 36 years in prison.

This video shows Glenn Danzig of The Misfits getting knocked out by Danny Marianino of North Side Kings after an argument turns somewhat heated. You can hear some of the Misfits fans defending Glenn.
Kevin Godley and Lol Creme were one of the first pop acts to use CGI, Computer Graphic Imaging, animation in their video for Cry. They used CGI animation to disove their faces and a bunch of other people's faces one into the other. CGI was very advanced back in the 1980s an other people used it after Cry was released.
Gord Downie's book Secret Path about Chanie Wenjack a 12 year old indigenous boy who was forced into a residential school in Kenora and then ran away. Chanie died from starvation in 1966 just 40 KM from his home. Being in a personal and working relationship - Gordon Deppe and Sandy Horne (Spoons)

Declaring herself "Too old to Rock and Roll" - Grace Slick
In the late 80's she abruptly left Starship (originally Jefferson Airplane), citing her age. When interviewed on VH1 in 1998, she stated "all rock-and-rollers over the age of 50 look stupid and should retire" Despite this, she has occasionally made appearences, most notably her post-9-11 reunion with Starship where she went on stage in a burqa.

Having a future "Office" cast member in the band - Grass Roots
When the American version of "The Office" debuted, Grass Roots guitarist Creed Bratton joined the cast as a fictionalized (and nastier) version of himself.
Namely, Pigpen, Keith Godchaux, Brent Mydland, and Vince Welnick. Tom Constanten is (for now) the only surviving Dead keyboardist, and currently with Jefferson Starship.

Having a big fan with two NBA championship rings - The Grateful Dead
Former NBA player turned commentator Bill Walton is a huge Grateful Dead fan, which he has admitted to. The 6'10" Walton earned the nickname "World's Tallest Deadhead".
Known as "Dead-Head's", these otherwise average citizens, have formed a strange sub-culture that will do anything, and go almost anywhere just to breath the same air as these sloppy hobo's. (I dont get it and probably never will)
In 2003, Great White were doing a concert at a small nightclub in Rhode Island when they set off fireworks. BAD IDEA. A fire started, and 100 people, including a guitarist, died. I'm surprised no one's mentioned this yet!
They put out albums with goofball titles based on Greg's last name. Examples include: Rockihn-Roll (sp?), Kihntagous, Kihnspiracy, Kihntinued, Citizen Kihn and Kihnsolidation. You get the drift.
